On 4 February 2025, on the occasion of World Cancer Day, a blood donation camp was organized at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow with the cooperation of nursing and paramedical staff. Professor MLB Bhatt, Director of the Institute, in his address after the inauguration of this camp, praised all the participating blood donors and called upon the youth to donate blood regularly. He said that despite the latest technology, no other alternative to blood is available till now and the importance of blood donation is the same as organ donation. In the same sequence, Dr. Sharad Singh, Chief Medical Superintendent and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Institute, while highlighting the important need of blood units and all its components in the treatment of cancer patients, said that to meet the adequate demand of blood for cancer patients, all people from the society should voluntarily come forward to donate blood. Dr. Anju Dubey, Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine of the Institute, the organizer of this blood donation camp, expressed her commitment to organize blood donation camps in a phased manner to immediately meet the need of blood units for cancer patients. 26 types of blood components are available for the treatment of cancer patients through the world-class Apheresis machine in the institute. In this camp, 40 doctors and employees motivated for public welfare expressed their commitment to serve the patients by donating blood.

KSSSCI Organizes Blood Donation Camp on World Cancer Day 2025 to Support Cancer Patients

Cancer Awareness Week and World Cancer Day was celebrated from 04 February to 11 February 2025 in the first week of February to commemorate the World Cancer Day at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow. This year the theme of World Cancer Day has been kept as ‘United by Unique’.The objective of this awareness week being run by the institute is to increase awareness about cancer and to make the society understand the importance of timely and proper treatment of cancer.
Cancer screening and cancer awareness programs were organized for the general public in the institute. Cancer Awareness Week made cancer patients and the general public aware about various cancer treatment methods such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and targeted therapy.Along with this, special information was given about onco-nutrition, onco-psychiatry, onco-physiotherapy and palliative care.
OPD in the institute from 04.02.2025 to 11.02.2025.An 'Information Booth' was also opened on the first floor of the building, from where the patient, patient's assistant or anyone can get information mainly about symptoms and prevention related to breast cancer, oral cancer and pediatric cancer.
The Public Health Department of the institute also organized camps at different primary health centers and community health centers and provided information to the people mainly related to oral, breast and cervical cancer.Besides, people were also told that they can visit the institute for advice related to cancer related symptoms and prevention and precautions to avoid cancer etc.
Under 'Cancer Awareness Week', other special programs - Poster Competition and Rangoli Competition were organized. In this program, The Director of the institute,

Bhatt, Dr. Sharad Singh Executive Registrar and Chief Medical Superintendent, Mr. RajnikantVerma(Finance Officer), Prof. SabuhiQureshi(Dean), Dr. Varun Vijay (Associate Professor), Dr. Ashim Rashid (Additional Professor), Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta (Associate Professor), Dr. AyushLohia(Associate Professor) and other members of the faculty were present, in which the Prizes and Certificates decided in both the competitions were given by the Director of the Institute to the winners of first, second and third place.
On this occasion, Director of Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Prof. MLB Bhatt highlighted the need for awareness regarding cancer. He told that in present times cancer has become a common disease.Its main reason is unorganized and unhealthy lifestyle, which includes tobacco consumption, excessive alcohol consumption, irregular diet and pollution etc. If a person is ready to make some changes in his lifestyle, then in 60% of the cases cancer can be prevented before it occurs.

World Cancer Day Celebration

Today on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, Maa Saraswati Puja was organized at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, C.G. City, Sultanpur Road, Lucknow, in which the Director of the Institute, Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, garlanded the picture of Maa Saraswati and prayed for the progress of Institute, he extended his greetings to all the Faculty and Staff Members. On this promising and bright day, the first Central Library Committee meeting of the institute was held and along with this much-awaited Central Library of the Institute was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Director. The Dean of the Institute Prof. Sabuhi Qureshi, The Executive Registrar Dr. Sharad Singh, Faculty In-charge Central Library Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, All HoD’s of various departments, Faculty Members and representatives of the prestigious Medical Institutes of Lucknow were also present to grace the occasion.
