Department of surgical oncology at KSSSCI along with Astitva foundation started free lymphedema prevention and treatment clinic. Inauguration of this opd was done by Director of KSSSCI Prof. M L B Bhatt in presence of Director of Astitva foundation Dr Seema Singh,medical superintendent Dr Varun Vijay ,Dean Dr. Pramod Gupta and faculty from surgical oncology Dr.Ankur Verma,Dr.Durgesh Kumar, and Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh. The main aim of this clinic is to educate patiens regarding lymphedema and its preventive measures, early diagnosis ,treatment and provide free stockings and breast prosthesis. Inaugural opd which was done on 8th July registered and treated more than 30 patients of breast cancer with lymphedema. Pressure stockings And breast prosthesis were distributed free of cost to all of them by astitva foundation. Director of the institute Prof. M L B Bhatt told that this clinic will be of great help in providing world class service to all the patients who are suffering or having risk of developing lymphoedema after cancer surgery treatment.

Uterine Cancer Awareness Programme Organized at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute. With the objective of enhancing public awareness about uterine cancer and promoting its early detection and timely treatment, a Uterine Cancer Awareness Programme was organized today at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow. The programme was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Priyanka Singh, Additional Professor, Department of Gynecological Oncology. During the programme, Dr. Priyanka Singh delivered a talk on "What is Uterine Cancer and How it is Managed," highlighting the causes, symptoms, early diagnosis, and modern treatment options for uterine cancer. Dr. S. Priya, Associate Professor, Department of General Medicine, spoke on "Prevention of Uterine Cancer by Lifestyle Modification," emphasizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle, balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and weight management in reducing the risk of cancer. Dr. Rumita Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, delivered a presentation on "Role of Radiation Therapy & Chemotherapy in Uterine Cancer," explaining the role of advanced radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the effective management of the disease. As part of the awareness programme, a Poster Making Competition was also organized for the nursing staff to promote creative expression and reinforce awareness regarding uterine cancer. Ms. Sapna Kumari secured the First Position, while Ms. Raj Nandani Rai was awarded the Second Position for their outstanding posters highlighting the importance of awareness, early detection, and prevention. The programme concluded with an interactive panel discussion and question-and-answer session featuring Prof. Sharad Singh, Dr. Priyanka Singh, Dr. S. Priya, and Dr. Rumita Singh. Patients and attendants actively participated by raising questions related to the symptoms, risk factors, prevention, screening, and treatment of uterine cancer, which were addressed by the experts in a simple and scientific manner. The experts encouraged women to undergo regular health check-ups, avoid ignoring any abnormal symptoms, and adopt a healthy lifestyle. They emphasized the message that "Timely awareness, timely diagnosis, and timely treatment are the keys to better outcomes in uterine cancer."

With the objective of enhancing public awareness about endometrial cancer and promoting its early diagnosis and precision treatment, a Scientific Update Meeting was organized today at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow, as part of Endometrial Cancer Awareness Month. The theme of the programme was "Advancing Awareness, Early Diagnosis and Precision Treatment in Endometrial Cancer." The programme was chaired by Prof. Sabuhi Qureshi, Head of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the risk factors, early symptoms, importance of timely screening, and advances in the management of endometrial cancer. She emphasized that early detection and appropriate treatment can significantly improve patient outcomes and help control the disease effectively. The scientific session featured expert lectures on various aspects of endometrial cancer. Dr. Rumita Singh delivered a talk on "Let's Know About Endometrial Cancer", Dr. Saumya Gupta presented "Update on Endometrial Cancer Management", and Dr. Abhishek Tiwari spoke on "Recent Trials: Survival Impact in Advanced Endometrial Cancer." The programme concluded with a Multidisciplinary Case Discussion (MDC) involving expert faculty members. The event was compered by Dr. Shivangi Shankar Srivastava and Dr. Arati Trivedi. The meeting witnessed active participation from faculty members, resident doctors, patient attendents and healthcare professionals, who gained insights into the latest scientific developments in the diagnosis and treatment of endometrial cancer. On the occasion, the experts appealed to women not to ignore abnormal uterine bleeding or any other suspicious symptoms and to seek timely medical consultation and screening. They reiterated that awareness, early diagnosis, and precision treatment are the keys to better outcomes and effective management of endometrial cancer.

A landmark moment in compassionate healthcare unfolded today at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute (KSSSCI), Lucknow, as the ‘Apni Thali’ initiative served its first dinner to attendants of admitted cancer patients. On the very first evening, 360 family members of patients undergoing treatment at KSSSCI came forward to receive a warm, nutritious meal — far exceeding initial projections. The first thali was served by Dr. Varun Vijay who reiterated the words of Dr. M.L.B. Bhatt, Director, and Dr. Vijendra Kumar, the Chief Medical Superintendent, that “KSSSCI is committed to providing a wholesome, caring environment to not only the patients but also their attendants who accompany them through the treatment.” THE PROBLEM NO ONE TALKS ABOUT Cancer is not a diagnosis that affects one person alone. Patients undergoing long-term treatment are accompanied by family members — parents, spouses, children, siblings — who remain by their side for weeks and months. While the hospital provides nutritious meals to the patient, attending family members are frequently left dependent on food from outside — expensive, hard to access, and often unhygienic when relied upon for extended periods. The sustained physical and emotional strain, compounded by poor nutrition, leaves attendants weakened at precisely the moment their loved one needs them most. KSSSCI: COMPASSIONATE CARE THAT EXTENDS BEYOND THE PATIENT Under the proactive leadership of Director Prof. (Dr.) M.L.B. Bhatt, KSSSCI has long believed that truly compassionate healthcare must extend its care beyond the patient to every family standing beside them. The Institute has taken the lead in bringing this partnership together and has provided the full institutional support to make it possible — including a dedicated dining hall, steel crockery, water and utilities, safety and security for the programme team, and a designated nodal officer for day-to-day coordination. By enabling this initiative within its premises, KSSSCI has affirmed that the wellbeing of attendants is as much a responsibility of the institution as the treatment of its patients. To protect the dignity and self-respect of every recipient, attendants can voluntarily make a contribution of just one rupee in exchange for the meal they receive. DAY ONE: 360 FAMILIES SERVED Under a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding signed between KSSSCI, RAVC Foundation, and Sharda Welfare Society, the Apni Thali nightly dinner programme commenced on 27 June 2026. The response on the very first day was overwhelming: 360 family members of patients undergoing treatment at KSSSCI came forward and were served a warm, nutritious dinner. The programme is designed to serve between 200 and 250 attendants per evening on a regular basis, with meals served between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM in the designated dining hall of the Institute. On the occasion of the 12th, International Day of Yoga, a Yoga Practice and Awareness Programme was enthusiastically organized today at the Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow. On this occasion, the Director, Prof. M. L. B. Bhatt, emphasized that in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, yoga plays a vital role in reducing stress, enhancing efficiency, and promoting a healthy way of life. He encouraged everyone to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine. The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Indubala Maurya, Additional Professor and Nodal Officer for the International Day of Yoga, along with her team. Under the guidance of Yoga Instructor Mr. Kuldeep Yadav, participants practiced various yoga postures (asanas), pranayama, and meditation techniques. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Director Prof.M.L.B. Today a MoU has been signed between Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, B-PACS, Sonai Kajerha and Surya Deo Laxmi Memorial Charitable Trust, Lucknow for establishment of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) a significant step has been taken by the parties towards enhancing affordable quality generic drugs as per PMBI guidelines for the patients at KSSSCI. The MoU has been signed and exchange by Prof. MLB Bhatt, Director, KSSSCI, Shri Abhishek Sahay, Secretary, B-PACS and Mrs. Alka Singh, Chief Trusty, Surya Deo Laxmi Memorial Charitable Trust, Lucknow. The proposed Janaushadhi Kendra will function under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) inside the premises of the Institute, a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at providing quality generic medicines at substantially lower prices, thereby reducing out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure. Speaking on the occasion, the Director, KSSSCI emphasized that the establishment of the Janaushadhi Kendra will be a major relief for patients undergoing long-term treatment, particularly cancer patients who often require prolonged medication. The initiative reflects the Institute's commitment to making healthcare more accessible, affordable, and patient-centric. The B-PACS and Surya Deo Laxmi Memorial Charitable Trust authorities had ensured that the timely operationalization of the Janaushadhi Kendra at KSSSCI and maintaining an uninterrupted supply of quality generic medicines in accordance with the guidelines of the PMBJP. The exchange of the MoU signifies a shared commitment to strengthening affordable healthcare infrastructure and improving access to essential medicines. The Janaushadhi Kendra is expected to become operational soon after completion of the necessary formalities. The MoU has been signed and exchange by Prof. MLB Bhatt, Director, KSSSCI, Shri Rohit Pandey, Director, RAVC Foundation and Shri Atul Tiwari, Chairperson, Sharda Welfare Society, Lucknow. A noble initiative and humanitarian effort are being taken by the RAVC Foundation to be fulfilled by the Sharda Welfare Society, Lucknow under CSR activity for providing healthy, nutritious and hygienic food to the patients attendants at the designated place at KSSSCI. दिनांक 14 June 2026 को " विश्व रक्तदाता दिवस " के उपलक्ष्य पर कल्याण सिंह सुपर स्पेशलिटी कैंसर संस्थान के ट्रांसफ्यूजन मेडिसन विभाग में " स्वैच्छिक रक्तदान शिविर" का आयोजन किया गया. इस अवसर पर स्वैच्छिक रक्तदान करने वाले संस्थान कर्मियों और अन्य रक्तदाताओं को स्मृति चिन्ह और प्रशंसा पत्र देकर सम्मानित किया. इस अवसर पर विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ अंजू दुबे ने बताया कि इस वर्ष वर्ल्ड हेल्थ ऑर्गेनाइजेशन (WHO) ने इस दिवस की थीम " One drop of humanity. GIVE BLOOD GIVE LIFE" निर्धारित की है और इस थीम के अनुरूप ट्रांसफ्यूजन मेडिसिन विभाग आमजन से संपर्क करते हुए सुरक्षित रक्त की आवश्यकता के बारे में एक जागरूकता अभियान चला रहा है. इस रक्तदान शिविर में 25 यूनिट रक्त एकत्रित किया गया .

A free Hepatitis B and C Screening Camp was organised under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP) successfully from 01 June to 06 June 2026 at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute (KSSSCI), Lucknow, in the institute's OPD building. A large number of patients and institute employees enthusiastically participated in the camp and underwent screening for Hepatitis B and C, demonstrating their awareness and commitment towards preventive healthcare. During the camp, approximately 200 people were screened. The Department of Microbiology served as the Viral Load Testing Centre in the successful organisation of the programme. The camp was conducted under the leadership of Dr Manisha Gupta, In-charge, Viral Load Testing Centre and Department of Microbiology. The programme received valuable guidance and support from Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, Director, KSSSCI; Dr Vijendra Kumar Singh, Chief Medical Superintendent, and Dr Varun Vijay, Medical Superintendent. The dignitaries visited and reviewed the camp on various occasions, encouraging the staff and participants. The administration also reaffirmed its commitment to organising similar awareness and screening initiatives in the future for the promotion of public health.
