Under the leadership of Dr. Anju Dubey, Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow, a Voluntary "Blood Donation Camp and Wheelchair Donation Programme" was organized under the joint aegis of "Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh–Seva Bharati and Samrat Vikramaditya Seva Sansthan."
During the programme, 25 members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh–Seva Bharati and Samrat Vikramaditya Seva Sansthan voluntarily donated blood, and 10 wheelchairs were donated for needy patients.
On this occasion, Director of the Institute, Prof.M.L.B. Bhatt, said that blood donation is a great form of social service. Every healthy individual should come forward to donate blood regularly, as the blood donated by us can save the life of a person in need.
CMS Prof. Vijendra, MS Dr. Varun Vijay, Dean Dr. Pramod Gupta, Executive Registrar Dr. Ayush Lohia, along with other doctors and officials of the Institute, were present at the programme.
From Seva Bharati and Samrat Vikramaditya Seva Sansthan, Organization General Secretary Shri Om Prakash Pandey, Patron Shri Pradeep Singh, President Dr. Narendra Agrawal, Secretary Shri Anand Pandey, Vice President, Seva Bharati Shri Surendra Mishra, along with Shri Vinay Prakash Tiwari, Shri Shashank Mishra, Shri Manish Pandey, Shri Akhilesh Pandey, Shri Vicky Mishra, Shri Dinesh Kapoor, Shri Amit Mishra, Shri Shiv Pandey, Shri Nikhil Singhal, Dr. Ramchandra Rawat, and other office-bearers and volunteers, were present.
The Department of Transfusion Medicine team made a significant contribution to the successful organization of the programme.

Blood Donation Camp and Wheelchair Donation Programme Organized at KSSSCI, Lucknow

Today, in Department of Pathology, Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow, the advanced ‘Liquid-Based Cytology’ (LBC) testing facility was inaugurated by the Institute’s Director, Prof. M.L.B.Bhatt, with the objective of enabling early detection and better diagnosis of cervical cancer in women.
On this occasion, Prof. Bhatt stated that compared to the conventional Pap Smear test, the LBC technique is more advanced and effective. With this technique, the chances of sample deterioration are considerably reduced, and the test results are clearer and more accurate. This provides greater convenience to clinicians in the detection and diagnosis of the disease.
The Chief Guest at the programme was Prof. R.N. Rao, Professor, Department of Pathology, SGPGI, Lucknow. He provided information about the LBC technique and its utility, and stated that modern diagnostic techniques play an important role in the timely detection and better management of cervical cancer.
On this occasion, a workshop on LBC technology was also organised, in which doctors, faculty members and technical staff from the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Onco and Department of Pathology participated. During the workshop, experts provided practical information and training on the proper procedure for sample collection, sample preservation and processing techniques for LBC testing.
Dr. Deepti Mishra, Head, Department of Pathology, Kalyan Singh Cancer Institute, stated that the better quality of samples obtained through LBC technology enables more effective identification of cellular changes. She said that with the introduction of this facility, patients will not have to wait for a long time for their test reports, which will help in initiating further investigations and treatment in a timely manner. If required, other tests such as HPV testing can also be performed from the same sample.
The programme was attended by Prof. Vijendra Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent; Dr. Varun Vijay, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, Dean; and Dr. Ayush Lohia, Executive Registrar, Dr. Priyanka Sameer, Dr. Shrestha Ghosh along with other faculty members, residents, nursing staff and employees of the Institute.

A tribute programme was organised at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow, on the occasion of the 5th death anniversary of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and veteran public leader, Late Shri Kalyan Singh Ji. Late Shri Kalyan Singh Ji passed away on 21 August 2021.
On this occasion, Director of the Institute, Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, along with doctors, resident doctors, nursing officers and other staff members, paid heartfelt tribute to Late Shri Kalyan Singh Ji by offering floral tributes at his statue installed on the institute premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt said that the life of Late Shri Kalyan Singh Ji remains an inspiring example of dedication to public service, good governance and national interest. His contribution to the development of Uttar Pradesh will always be remembered. He further said that the very name of Kalyan Singh Cancer Institute reflects the ideals of public service associated with him.
He emphasised that providing quality, accessible and compassionate cancer care to patients and making patient service the highest priority is the true tribute to the legacy of Late Shri Kalyan Singh Ji.
At the conclusion of the programme, all officers and staff members present offered flowers at the statue of Late Shri Kalyan Singh Ji and paid their respectful homage. They also resolved to imbibe his ideals and spirit of dedicated public service in their professional and personal lives.

Tribute Paid to Late Shri Kalyan Singh Ji on His 5th Death Anniversary at Kalyan Singh Cancer Institute

Today, the 80th Independence Day of the nation was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow. Officers, doctors, residents, nursing officers, employees, and other staff members of the institute were present on the occasion.
The programme commenced with the collective singing of the national song “Vande Mataram.” This was followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by the Director of the Institute, Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt. After the flag hoisting, everyone present sang the National Anthem and expressed their commitment and dedication towards the nation.
On the occasion, Director Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt extended his warm wishes to everyone on Independence Day and said that freedom is not only our right but also reminds us of our duties and responsibilities towards the nation and society. He emphasized that every person associated with the healthcare sector has a responsibility to serve patients with utmost sincerity, sensitivity, and dedication, and to contribute towards building a healthier and stronger society.
He appreciated the dedication of all the doctors, residents, nursing officers, administrative staff, and other personnel of the institute, and said that continuously working with a spirit of teamwork to provide quality and accessible cancer care to patients is a true form of national service.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge towards the unity, integrity, and prosperity of the nation.

A special programme was organised today at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute on the occasion of National Librarians’ Day. The programme was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, Dean and In-charge, Central Library. The Chief Guest of the programme was Major General Dr. Amit Devgan, Vice-Chancellor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow.
On the occasion, Prof. Dr. P. P. Rawat, Former Chief and Head, Central Library, SGPGIMS, delivered an informative address on the life and significant contributions of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the field of Library and Information Science. The guests also unveiled Volume 15, Issue 1 of the Journal of Library and Information Communication Technology.
In his address, Chief Guest Major General Dr. Amit Devgan highlighted the important role of libraries in promoting medical education, research and dissemination of knowledge. He particularly mentioned the e-Library of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, stating that the e-Library has now been launched and made accessible to all concerned users. He emphasised that digital library resources would provide students, doctors and researchers with convenient access to quality academic and research material.
Director Prof. M. L. B. Bhatt highlighted the important role of the Central Library at the Institute. He spoke about the academic resources available for doctors, nursing professionals and other healthcare personnel, and emphasised the contribution of the library in promoting research and academic activities at the Institute.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Aziz Hasan, Librarian-II, Central Library, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty members and participants for their presence and support.

National Librarians’ Day Celebrated at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute.

On the occasion of World Head and Neck Cancer Day, an awareness programme was organised today at Kalyan Singh Advanced Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the public about head and neck cancer, emphasise the importance of early detection, and educate people about preventive measures against the disease.
Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, Additional Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, and Dean, highlighted the role of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in the management of head and neck cancers. He stated that with modern radiotherapy techniques, effective and safe treatment of cancer is now possible, leading to improved treatment outcomes and quality of life for patients.
Addressing the gathering, the Director of the Institute, Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, said that the majority of head and neck cancers are associated with tobacco consumption and smoking. He emphasised that these cancers can be prevented to a great extent through awareness, a healthy lifestyle, and timely screening. He urged all citizens to undergo regular cancer screening and to seek medical attention promptly if they notice any early warning signs of cancer.
Dr. Priyank, Senior Resident, Department of Surgical Oncology, provided information on the latest surgical approaches for the treatment of head and neck cancers. At the end of the programme, Dr. Rumita Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, addressed the queries of patients' attendants through an interactive question-and-answer session.
The programme was attended by Prof. Vijendra Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent; Dr. Varun Vijay, Medical Superintendent; Prof. Sharad Singh, Head, Department of Radiation Oncology; Dr. Ankur Verma, Head, Department of Surgical Oncology; along with other faculty members of the Institute, nursing officers, and patients' attendants.

At Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, a commendable social initiative was undertaken today with the distribution of 2 stretchers and 2 wheelchairs. These stretchers and wheelchairs were donated by Rotary Club Lucknow West through the generous support of Mr. K.K. Srivastava, Smt. Poonam Gulati, Shri Shailendra Jain, Shri Pankaj Jain, Shri Pradeep Mishra, Shri Sunil Chaturvedi, and Smt. Rita Bhargava.
The institute administration expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the donors and described the initiative as an inspiring step toward public service and compassionate patient care.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow and Shrimad Kamal Kalyan Foundation, Lucknow. Under this collaboration, caregivers of admitted cancer patients will be provided fresh, home-cooked, nutritious and hygienic breakfast free of cost every day. With this new initiative, caregivers of patients at the Institute will now receive all three meals—breakfast, lunch and dinner—free of charge every day.
The MoU was signed by Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, Director, Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, and Mr. Rajesh Gupta, President, Shrimad Kamal Kalyan Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Bhatt described the initiative as a significant step towards providing comprehensive support to cancer patients and their families. He appreciated the Foundation's humanitarian contribution and expressed confidence that the initiative would provide great relief to caregivers, especially those accompanying patients from distant places.

Free Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for Caregivers of Cancer Patients at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute.

Inspired by the vision and commitment of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, and with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and a greener future, a Mega Tree Plantation Drive was inaugurated today at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow.
The programme was graced by Shri Amit Ghosh, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. Shri Anand Tripathi, Deputy Secretary, Medical Education, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by the Director of the Institute, Prof.M.L.B. Bhatt.
The plantation drive commenced with the ceremonial planting of a sapling by Shri Amit Ghosh. Thereafter, Shri Anand Tripathi, Prof.M.L.B. Bhatt, along with other institute officials, faculty members, resident doctors, nursing staff, and employees, participated enthusiastically in the plantation drive, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation.
As part of this initiative, approximately 2,500 saplings of various species were planted across the institute campus. All participants also pledged to ensure the protection, nurturing, and regular maintenance of the newly planted saplings.
The Institute has set a target of planting a total of 10,000 saplings across its campus within the next one week. Through this initiative, the Institute has reaffirmed its commitment not only to creating a greener and cleaner environment but also to building a healthy and sustainable ecosystem for future generations.
