The Department of Public Health at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow, organized a breast cancer screening and awareness program on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Community Health Center, Tudiaganj.
The program witnessed active participation from CHC Superintendent Dr. Geetanjali Singh, Associate Professor Dr. Anshu Singh from the Department of Public Health, Nursing Officers Shweta and Kashish Kashyap, along with other healthcare staff.
During the program, women and members of the public were educated about the major risk factors, early signs, and the importance of timely screening for breast cancer. It was explained that symptoms such as a lump in the breast or underarm, changes in the size or shape of the breast, abnormal nipple discharge or bleeding, skin dimpling or redness, and nipple retraction could be potential warning signs of breast cancer. It was also emphasized that even a painless lump should not be ignored.
On this occasion, Dr. Anshu Singh highlighted that early detection and accurate awareness can significantly improve treatment outcomes in breast cancer.
Nursing Officers Kashish Kashyap and Shweta conducted screening of participants and encouraged women to come forward for regular breast cancer check-ups.
The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about breast cancer among women and the community, dispel myths, and promote timely screening and appropriate treatment.
