Breast Cancer Awareness & Screening Initiative at CHC Indira Nagar, Lucknow

On Friday, March 20, 2026, the Department of Public Health, Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow, organized a Breast Cancer Screening and Cancer Awareness Program at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Indira Nagar, Lucknow. The program witnessed active participation from the Medical Superintendent of CHC Indira Nagar, Dr. Mayank Jalote, Junior Resident Dr. Diksha, Nursing Officer Kashish Kashyap, Scientist-C Rohit Kumar Singh, and other healthcare staff.
During the program, attendees were provided with detailed information about the major risk factors, symptoms, and the importance of early detection of breast cancer. It was explained that a lump in the breast or underarm, changes in the size or shape of the breast, abnormal discharge or bleeding from the nipple, dimpling of the breast skin, redness, or shrinkage could be potential warning signs of breast cancer. It was also emphasized that even a painless lump can be dangerous and should not be ignored.
Addressing the gathering, Medical Superintendent Dr. Mayank Jalote highlighted that timely screening and accurate awareness can lead to successful treatment of breast cancer. He also emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, regular exercise, and periodic health check-ups.
On this occasion, Dr. Diksha, Nursing Officer Kashish Kashyap, and Scientist-C Rohit Kumar Singh also educated the public about the screening process and encouraged women to undergo regular screening.
The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about breast cancer among women and the community, dispel myths, and motivate people to seek timely screening and treatment.
