An awareness program was organized today by the Department of Pediatric Oncology at Kalyan Singh Cancer Institute, Lucknow, on the occasion of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. The program was successfully conducted under the guidance of the Institute Director, Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, and the Head of Department, Dr. Geetika Pant.
The main objective of the program was to increase awareness among society and healthcare workers regarding childhood cancers, while emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.
On this occasion, Dr. Geetika Pant stated, “With timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, most childhood cancer cases have a high chance of complete recovery. Awareness among society, parents, and healthcare professionals is essential to ensure a safe and healthy future for children.”
Associate Professor Dr. Rakhi Jain delivered a detailed talk highlighting the life journey of cancer survivors, the challenges faced during treatment, and the importance of social and psychological support after recovery.
During the program, childhood cancer survivors shared their experiences and spoke about their inspiring journeys. They were also felicitated and awarded by the department in recognition of their courage and resilience.
The event was attended by the Institute’s Dean, Dr. Sabuhi Qureshi; CMS Dr. Vijendra, Executive Registrar, Dr. Ayush Lohia; Medical Superintendent, Dr. Varun Vijay, along with faculty members, residents, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
