On the occasion of World Cancer Awareness Week 2026, a Cancer Awareness Program was organized at Primary School, Amethi Area, Gosainganj, District Lucknow. The objective of this program was to create awareness among school teachers, staff, and students about prevention and treatment of cancer, a serious and life-threatening disease. The program focused on educating participants about the causes, symptoms, and the importance of early detection of cancer.
The program was attended by the school Principal Mrs. Santosh Rai, teacher Mr. Varsun Sahat, along with other teachers and staff members of the school. All attendees appreciated and welcomed this public awareness initiative.
Under the Cancer Awareness Program, experts from the Public Health Department of KSSSCI (Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute) conducted the awareness session. The team included Dr. Ayush Lohiya, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, Dr. Anshu Singh, Associate Professor, Public Health Department, Nursing Officer Ms. Shweta Upadhyay, and Mrs. Kashish. The experts discussed various types of cancers, associated risk factors, available treatment options, and emphasized that timely screening and early diagnosis can help in effective control of cancer.
Discussions were also held with local community members highlighting that a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, regular exercise, and timely medical check-ups play a crucial role in preventing and managing even serious diseases like cancer.
