On the occasion of World Cancer Day, a “Cancer Awareness Week” was organized at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute (KSSSCI), Lucknow. As part of the programme, a Blood Donation Camp was organized in the Department of Transfusion Medicine under the leadership of Dr. Anju Dubey, during which a total of 40 units of blood were collected.
Under the activities of Cancer Awareness Week, several cancer survivors shared their inspiring life journeys, motivating patients and the general public. A quiz on cancer awareness was also organized to enhance public knowledge and awareness about cancer.
On this occasion, the Director of the Institute, Prof. M. L. B. Bhatt, stated that the World Cancer Day 2026 theme “United by Unique” conveys the message that every cancer patient’s journey is unique, yet by standing united—with awareness, timely treatment, positive thinking, and human compassion—we can fight cancer more effectively.
Present on the occasion were Dr. Vijendra, Dr. Varun Vijay, Dr. Ayush Lohiya, Dr. Sabuhi Qureshi, Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, along with faculty members, resident doctors, and paramedical staff of the institute.
The objective of the programme was to increase public awareness about cancer, highlight the importance of early detection and timely treatment, and promote humanitarian activities such as blood donation.
