8th Foundation Day of the Department of Radiation Oncology Celebrated with Grandeur at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow

The 8th Foundation Day of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow was celebrated today with great dignity, enthusiasm, and inspiration in a grand manner.
The Chief Guest of the program was Prof. C. M. Singh, Director, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow. In his address, he laid special emphasis on Primordial Prevention, stating that by adopting a healthy lifestyle, avoiding tobacco and substance abuse, following a balanced diet, and engaging in regular physical exercise, the prevention of serious diseases like cancer is possible. He highlighted that community-level awareness is extremely essential in the direction of cancer control.
Prof. Satyajit Pradhan, Director, Homi Bhabha Cancer Centre, Varanasi, was present as the Guest of Honour. On this occasion, he delivered the Foundation Day Oration, presenting insightful views on the latest developments in cancer treatment, research, and the field of Radiation Oncology. He also elaborated on the importance of Gynecological Brachytherapy, explaining its effectiveness, modern techniques, and improved treatment outcomes in cancers affecting women.
The program was presided over by the Director of the Institute, Prof. M.L.B Bhatt. In his presidential address, he appreciated the eight years of achievements of the Department of Radiation Oncology and called for maintaining continuous excellence in clinical services, medical education, and research.
On this occasion, Dr. Sabuhi Qureshi, Dean; Dr. Vijendra, CMS; Dr. Varun Vijay, MS; Dr. Ayush Lohiya, Registrar, along with other faculty members, resident doctors, and nursing staff of the institute were present in large numbers.
The Organising Chairman of the event was Prof. Sharad Singh, Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Organising Secretary was Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, Additional Professor, and the Co-Organising Secretary was Dr. Rumita Singh.
During the program, employees of the institute were honoured and encouraged for their dedicated services. Winners of the rangoli and poster competitions were also awarded prizes, which further strengthened creativity, dedication, and team spirit among the staff.
At the conclusion of the program, the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, who expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, participants, and everyone associated with the successful organization of the event.
The 8th Foundation Day celebration of the Department of Radiation Oncology was not only a reflection of the department’s achievements so far, but also reinforced its commitment to providing more advanced, high-quality, and dedicated services to cancer patients in the future.
