Installation Work of the State’s First Digital PET-CT Scanner in a Government Institution Begins at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow

The installation work of a state-of-the-art Digital PET-CT scanner has commenced at the Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow. The inauguration of this significant initiative was carried out by the Director of the Institute, Prof.M.L.B. Bhatt.
On this occasion, Dr.R.S. Yadav, General Manager, NP-NCD, National Health Mission, Dr. Alka Sharma, Additional Director, NP-NCD, Directorate General, Dr. Neetu Shukla, Deputy General Manager, NP-NCD, National Health Mission, Chief Medical Superintendent of Institute Dr. Vijendra Kumar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Varun Vijay, and Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, were also present.
With the help of the Digital PET-CT scanner, the assessment of cancer patients’ response to chemotherapy and radiotherapy will be conducted in a more accurate, reliable, and effective manner. After the completion of technical testing procedures, the machine will be dedicated to patient services in the near future.
With the commencement of this facility, cancer patients from Lucknow and surrounding districts will no longer have to depend on other centers for PET-CT investigations. This will not only reduce delays in diagnostic procedures but will also ensure timely and accurate diagnosis along with improved treatment outcomes for patients.
This initiative will prove to be a significant step towards enhancing the quality of cancer diagnosis and treatment services in the state and will take these services to a new level of excellence.
