CME on Breast Cancer Awareness Held at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow — Inspiring Stories and Medical Insights Mark the Event

A Continuing Medical Education (CME) program was successfully organized today at the Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Lucknow, as part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month observance. The program was chaired by the Director of the institute, Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt. The theme of the event was — “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters.” This theme emphasizes that every breast cancer patient has a distinct life journey, and each story serves as a source of inspiration for both medical science and society. In her address, Dean Dr. Subuhi Qureshi highlighted that breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, but with early detection and timely treatment, complete recovery is possible. She stressed the importance of developing the habit of self-examination among women. Dr. Asmita from the Department of Radiology, SGPGIMS, Lucknow, delivered an insightful lecture on the role of modern radiological techniques in the detection of breast cancer. She explained how advanced modalities such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI are proving instrumental in early diagnosis of the disease. In his address, Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, Director of the Institute, stated, “Awareness is the most effective weapon against cancer.” He further added that the institute’s mission is not limited to the treatment of diseases but also extends to spreading awareness and promoting prevention across society. A particularly inspiring moment came when Mrs. Nisha Bahuguna, a 75-year-old breast cancer survivor and patient from Lucknow, shared her courageous journey. Other survivors — Jahanvi Kalyani, Sunita Vaishya, Rajni Devi, and Meena Kumari — also shared how positive thinking, family support, and medical guidance helped them overcome cancer. Their stories moved and inspired everyone present. The program was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, Dr. Ankur Verma, Dr. Ayush Lohia, and Mr. Rohit Singh. The event saw enthusiastic participation from Dr. Vijendra, Dr. Varun Vijay, Dr. Durgesh, Dr. Ashok, Dr. Ruchi, Dr. Indubala, Dr. Shilpi Dubey, Dr. Madhulika Dubey, along with resident doctors, nursing staff, patients, and their attendants from various departments of the institute.
