Successful Organization of the First Four-Day “Quality of Evidence” Workshop at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow

Under the guidance of Director Prof. Madan Lal Brahma Bhatt and the leadership of Dr.AyushLohia, the first four-day “Quality of Evidence” workshop was successfully organized at Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow. The institute is the first in the state and the second in the country to host such a workshop. A total of 40 participants took part in this workshop, including doctors from medical colleges, scientists from ICMR, students, and researchers. The participants came from 15 different states, notably Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand. This Quality of Evidence workshop was organized under SARANSH-2 by ICMR and DHR, and included training from experts of ICMR, DHR, AIIMS, KGMU, BHU, and KSSSCI. Faculty members involved in the training included Dr. Rizwan, Dr. Aditi Mohta, Dr. Abhishek Jaiswal, Dr.Farhad Ahmad, Dr. Pradeep Kharya, Dr. Rama Shankar Rath, Dr.Balendra Pratap Singh, Dr. Manish Kumar Singh, Dr.Geetika Pant, and Dr.Indubala Maurya. This workshop holds great significance for both the state and central governments as it will provide them with strong and reliable evidence, based on which better and more effective policies can be formulated. It will enable decision-making based on accurate information, ultimately benefiting society and the healthcare system. This will contribute towards improving the health of people at both state and national levels. From the doctors’ perspective, the workshop will support their clinical decision-making by providing them with credible evidence to guide their choices. They will be empowered to make informed and trustworthy clinical decisions. This workshop will also benefit patients, as it will help them understand how and why their treatment is being given. Patients will feel more confident and informed about their care, leading to better shared decision-making with their doctors. In the field of medicine and research, the workshop will aid in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and the proper use of medicines. It will be beneficial for both state and central governments, as well as for doctors and scientists. The main objective of this program is to provide teaching and training to doctors and scientists to support policy-making. This workshop is highly significant in enhancing the quality of research and evidence generation.
