KSSSCI and HTAIn Organize Dissemination Workshop on Breast Cancer Screening to Promote Evidence-Based Healthcare

The Department of Public Health, Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute (KSSSCI), Lucknow, in collaboration with Health Technology Assessment India (HTAIn), has organized a Dissemination Workshop on Breast Cancer Screening on April 24, 2025. The workshop aimed to share the findings of a recent HTA report on breast cancer screening in India and to promote evidence-based decision-making in healthcare. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Pinky Jowel, IAS, Managing Director, National Health Mission, Government of Uttar Pradesh, who served as the Chief Guest. In her address, Dr. Jowel emphasized the importance of breast cancer screening. She also mentioned the Ayushman Arogya Mandir, and the need for collaboration between the premiere institutes. Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Department of BSBE, IIT Kanpur, who joined as Guest of Honour also stated that collaboration between IIT, Kanpur and KSSSCI will foster innovation in cancer prevention, diagnostics and treatment. The inaugural session also featured remarks by Prof. M.L.B. Bhatt, Director, KSSSCI, Dr. Sharad Singh, Executive Registrar; Prof. Sabuhi Qureshi, Dean; and Dr. Manish Kumar Singh, RMLIMS, Lucknow. Highlights of the workshop included the release of the HTA report on Breast Cancer Screening in India by all dignitaries, followed by technical sessions covering key aspects of breast cancer in the Indian context. The report was written and compiled under the supervision of Dr. Ayush Lohia who served as the Principal Investigator of the HTA project. He told that results of this research can help in decreasing deaths due to breast cancer in India. Clinical breast examination by health workers can prevent females from getting cancer and will reduce the deaths among females. Breast cancer screening can also reduce the financial burden for treatment of breast cancer andwho served as the Organizing Secretary and Principal Investigator of the HTA project.
