Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute organized a free HPV vaccination and childhood cancer awareness program at the Raj Bhavan on the auspicious occasion of Navratri, during the Nari Shakti Vandan and Poojan of 5100 Girls program organized by Prerna Sanstha. The awareness program was inaugurated by Her Excellency Governor Anandi Ben Patel. During the program, the Institute's Director, Professor MLB Bhatt, provided information about childhood cancer and encouraged children to get vaccinated. Institute Director, Professor MLB Bhatt, informed that the HPV vaccine protects against cervical cancer (known as cervical cancer). This vaccine is produced by the indigenous Serum Institute of India and costs approximately ₹1,200. Previously, this vaccine was imported from abroad and cost between ₹3,000 and ₹8,000. In addition to administering vaccines, the children's weight, height, and health were also assessed during the public awareness program. The Institute's Gynecology Department head, along with the CMS, MS, Finance officer, and faculty members, were present. Through an exhibition and discussion, attendees were provided with information on identifying childhood cancer and its simple symptoms. These symptoms include prolonged fever, enlarged lumps, weight loss, the need for frequent blood transfusions, vomiting, headaches, starlight, and a lump in the abdomen or bone. With early detection and the modern medical technology available at the Institute, the successful treatment rate for childhood cancer has increased significantly. The success rate for childhood cancer treatment in our country is 30% to 40%. At the Tata Memorial Institute in India, this rate is 70% to 80%. Globally, this rate is 80% to 90%. At the Kalyan Singh Institute, this success rate has been observed to be approximately 70%. Efforts to increase awareness can further increase this rate. Currently, this success rate has reached approximately 70 to 80%, increasing the child's chances of leading a normal life. In addition to successful cancer treatment, the Institute also aims to disseminate information about cancer prevention, protection, and early detection. This will enable early diagnosis and treatment of the disease. The Director expressed his gratitude to Her Excellency the Governor and the Prerna Institute for the successful conduct of this program.
