National Librarians’ Day Celebrated at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute.

A special programme was organised today at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute on the occasion of National Librarians’ Day. The programme was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, Dean and In-charge, Central Library. The Chief Guest of the programme was Major General Dr. Amit Devgan, Vice-Chancellor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow.
On the occasion, Prof. Dr. P. P. Rawat, Former Chief and Head, Central Library, SGPGIMS, delivered an informative address on the life and significant contributions of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan to the field of Library and Information Science. The guests also unveiled Volume 15, Issue 1 of the Journal of Library and Information Communication Technology.
In his address, Chief Guest Major General Dr. Amit Devgan highlighted the important role of libraries in promoting medical education, research and dissemination of knowledge. He particularly mentioned the e-Library of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, stating that the e-Library has now been launched and made accessible to all concerned users. He emphasised that digital library resources would provide students, doctors and researchers with convenient access to quality academic and research material.
Director Prof. M. L. B. Bhatt highlighted the important role of the Central Library at the Institute. He spoke about the academic resources available for doctors, nursing professionals and other healthcare personnel, and emphasised the contribution of the library in promoting research and academic activities at the Institute.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Aziz Hasan, Librarian-II, Central Library, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty members and participants for their presence and support.
The programme was attended by Prof. Vijendra Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent; Dr. Varun Vijay, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Ayush Lohiya, Registrar, along with faculty members, resident doctors, nursing staff and other employees of the Institute.
